» Introduction
Yoga, translated from Sanskrit means union—union of the physical body, mind, spirit and extended body or environment. This program focuses on traditional yoga postures—asanas. Yoga postures stretch, strengthen and tone the entire body. Regular practice helps balance our body/mind and enhance health and well-being.

When it comes to Yoga, India is definitely the pinnacle. There are many disciplines of Yoga. This program will not only teach some of the main yoga but also and the unique features of each. This program also employs the use of Pranyama (Breathing techniques) and Mudras (Postures) to enhance spiritual development and attain self-realization.

» Learning
The focus of Yoga is on the union of all one's parts with the Divine, and transforming all the incongruous elements into a harmonious state of higher existence. The aim of Nature Quest through Yoga program involves transformation of one's entire being: physical, vital, mental, psychic and spiritual. With a large access to qualified yoga teacher as well as a thorough understanding of the needs of the student, one can also learn about Naturopathy and Ayurveda. Based in the foothills of Himalaya’s Nature Quest India is best placed to make your yoga experience in India a great success.

» Eligibility
This program is open to all levels of students and professionals who want to volunteer and learn about Yoga in India. Participants must be over 18 years of age easygoing and flexible. They must enjoy Yoga and be able to live in the mountains. Volunteers must be open minded, willing to take initiative to contribute and learn from their environment and be respectful to their surroundings.

No prior experience required. Our local coordinator and our experienced staff will be at hand to provide guidance and support.

» Orientation
Nature Quest staff will meet you on arrival at New Delhi International Airport. From here, you will be transported to a Hotel/Guest house for overnight stay. Nature Quest will arrange all accommodations, and provide orientation on issues around diet, safety, transport, currency conversion, communication, travel, norms and culture. Our coordinators will hold weekly meetings to monitor and evaluate the program and will provide 24-hour emergency support.

» Accommodation
In New Delhi, volunteers stay at a local guesthouse /Hotel when they arrive. While in Than Gaon Village, accommodation is provided in simple cottages built at the Nature Quest site. Please note that the accommodation does not include facilities like air conditioning and Internet. The food provided in the program is traditional Indian vegetarian cuisine. In Dehradun city volunteers can experience the Indian Culture at grass root level by staying with an Indian Family and exchange their cultural experience.

» Communication
You will be assigned a mobile phone (with free unlimited incoming calls) for the duration of your stay. All-important phone numbers will have been pre-programmed along with a limited amount of airtime for emergencies. To make calls over and above the airtime included, you can purchase pre-paid phone cards locally.

You will be required to sign a $100 release form in order to receive the cell phone. You will not be charged the $100 fee if the phone is returned in good working order to your program coordinator.

» Program Cost
The cost of the program is $520.00 for 2 weeks and includes the following services:











Pre-departure orientation and support
Airport pickup on arrival
Overnight stay in a New Delhi Guest house / Hotel
Transport from New Delhi to the rural school
Yoga classes, lectures etc
Volunteer work support and monitoring
Cultural adjustment, health and safety orientation
Shared accommodation with three meals a day
Weekly monitoring of the program
24 Hour emergency support
Cellular phone for incoming calls and emergency use

The cost will NOT include:




Daily local transportation around Dehradun during your free time. However, proper guidance will be provided to participants on how to use local transport systems.
Air ticket to New Delhi, India, visa fees and any travel insurance will be the responsibility of the volunteer.
Weekend and overnight excursions outside the program activities will have to be paid by the students directly.

Expenses of personal nature like table drinks, mineral water, international telephone calls, or any other expenses which are not included in the above list as included.
